Diana Howorth is a printmaker working across intaglio, collagraph, gyotaku and woodblock. Her practice spans both the precision of etched and incised plates and the more tactile, exploratory methods of collagraph and relief printing, and she moves between them according to what a subject seems to ask for.

Much of the work returns to the natural world — its forms, textures and surfaces — and to the particular character each printmaking process brings to a subject. Intaglio offers fine line and tonal depth; collagraph builds texture from materials worked into the plate; gyotaku records the exact form of a fish through direct impression; woodblock carries its own discipline of cut and registration. Each medium imposes its own constraints, and it is often within those constraints that the most interesting results emerge.

Alongside her main printmaking practice, she paints occasionally in oils and undertakes selected commissions.
